Step Into Leadership

I felt a frisson of excitement as I was handed the envelope with my official ‘Sunday’ name printed on the front. I hadn’t expected it so soon! I paused, wondering what the moment would be like when I opened it. The familiar scent of high quality stationery wafted on the air.

Using a knife from the kitchen drawer, I carefully slit the top edge open and removed the official looking letter from within. I closed my eyes as I slowly unfolded the thick sheet of paper, not wanting to accidentally see. I wanted to read it from the top. I held my breath.

The letter started:

“Dear Abigail,

Thank you for your entry. I am very pleased to let you know that you have won the colouring competition!

Your prize is a trip to Alton Towers with three guests.”

I was eight years old, I had won a trip to an amazing theme park just by entering a colouring competition. What a feeling!

You know that type of feeling right?!

In our working lives we might experience this feeling when we get promoted, or when we land that dream job we applied for but didn’t expect to get…

Doesn’t it feel awesome when you feel that sense of achievement?

The difference can be that this feeling of elation is often short-lived when our minds inevitably jump right to the gravity of the situation.

We’re not only going to have to quickly get to grips with our own new role, but we will be responsible for other people as well. For the results they deliver as well as their well-being. The first four weeks are going to be intense!

Over the last few weeks I have been working on a very special online course designed to help leaders step easily into their new role, rather creatively I’m calling it ‘Step Into Leadership’.

Step Into Leadership is for new leaders who want to start off successfully in their first people management role, or for leaders who are changing teams or companies and want to start managing their new team as they mean to go on.

Your Invitation To Step Into Leadership

I’m running a beta-version of the course, and this post is your invitation for a free spot on the beta run.

Even if you don’t fall into one of the two groups above I would highly recommend you join while it’s free as you will definitely find the contents valuable.

The course is 4 weeks long and will run from July 15 – August 9, 2019. It’s online and you can attend from anywhere.

Here is the course summary:
